Nando's at City Center

The famous Portuguese peri-peri chicken was very good and a lot of food!  The sauces were also a bit too spicy...

DTFF Opening Night After-Party

The Doha Tribeca Film Festival Opening Night After-Party was very cool with pretty lighting and very nice catering.  There was even sushi and teriyaki being made on the spot!

The Noodle House at the Pearl

The Noodle House at the Pearl has a nice location and view of the Pearl.  The prawn fried rice was quite good but the chicken satay was not peanut flavored enough.  The mango pudding was also quite good and very filling.

Camels!

Somehow we took a wrong turn from Landmark Mall and ended up driving almost to Al Khor.  We turned around though and then got lost in downtown Doha.  Finally, we got ourselves oriented and drove towards the Pearl.  While still a bit lost, we had this amazing surprise of loads of camels on the side of the road!!  Naturally, we had to stop.

haloumi sandwich and spinach pasta rolls

The food was not too special, but did make decent leftovers.  The best was the mango juice and the location of Opera Cafe.  It is upstairs so there is a view of the mall below if you have a nice seat by the edge.  It's almost as if you are outside in an elevated cafe with a view of the streets below.

Dates at Bateel

A friend took me to Bateel in City Center.  The dates with orange peel inside were delicious.

Neo Restaurant

We tried the all-you-can-eat at Neo for 135 QR.  The sushi was good but I still think Sakura at the Ramada is the best.

The croquette appetizer was good and the bread came in a jar.

The dessert was a strawberry mousse thing.

Dumplings at Golden Dragon

I tried the dumplings (14 QR) from Golden Dragon in City Center.  The dumplings were okay but the sauce was not quite right.

Pakistani cuisine at Benzy Restaurant

We were walking around the downtown area and decided to try some Pakistani food at Benzy Restaurant.

prawn masala, fish korma, chilli chicken, daal (lentils), paratha (bread), raita (yogurt)

This banana juice was very much necessary after all the really spicy foods!  I couldn't eat too much and mostly just stuck to rice, bread, and salad.

Glow American Salon Event

The new Glow West Bay location event was so much fun.  They had Cold Stone ice cream being made right there and coffee.  I also got a free hair straightener from the goody bag!  They were doing complementary beauty services as well.  It was completely packed with the women expat community.

La Veranda Restaurant & Cafe

At La Veranda Restaurant & Cafe, there is shisha and other drinks and Arabic food.  What is unique is that there are arcade games brought right to the table!  It was really fun.

Jarir Bookstore and Colour Note

Jarir Bookstore
I brought my acrylic paints and brushes with me but I needed to get some canvases here.  I tried Jarir Bookstore first.

They had a few canvases and certainly looked like a good place to buy canvases but they were pretty much all sold out.  The only thing that remained was some really huge ones and some square ones.  I spoke with one of the sales representatives and he said I could try Colour Note which was nearly and just a few minutes drive.

I did see this cute thing at Jarir Bookstore though!

Colour Note

I drove over to Colour Note and this place is great!  They are located really close to Thai Snack.  They had loads of canvases made of different materials and even had black canvases.  Additionally, there were many other art supplies.  I ended up getting 4 canvases: 36x27cm (30 QR), 46x38cm (36 QR), 50x70cm (81 QR), and 22x16cm (24 QR).  The quality seems pretty decent so far!
