Dubai: Turath Almandi Yemeni Restaurant

The last time I was in Dubai, I asked the guy from our tour of Oman what the best Yemeni restaurant was in Dubai. He said there was a Yemeni restaurant in Jumeriah 1.  I wonder if it's this one.... Anyway it was good and we got to sit on the floor.  There wasn't any chicken ogda but the fahsa was decent and the green foaming fenogreek was very fresh tasting.

Dubai: Baja Fresh in Dubai Mall

With cravings for Mexican food, I just couldn't resist trying Baja Fresh when I saw it in Dubai Mall.  I hadn't been in ages in the US even.  Ordering was a mess since they wouldn't let me chose what I wanted in my burrito.  Seriously, I can't have tomato and lettuce inside???  Finally after they saw that's what was happening, the burrito was filled up, rolled, and then they started to cut it in half!!!!!!!!!!  I screamed since I was so shocked with "What are you doing?!?!?!"  I couldn't believe they were ruining it after all my hard work of negotiating with them about this burrito!!  Finally we got that settled that it would not be cut in half and then the credit card machine didn't work.  Gah.

Taste wasn't bad though but seriously, people who don't know what Mexican food is should not be trying to make it.....

Heritage Village at Rumaillah Park

M and I went to the Heritage Village in Rumeilah Park where there was some traditional activities going on. We were a bit late so we caught the end of some traditional singing. Very nice and we were sad that we hadn't come earlier! More information here: http://justkooki.blogspot.com/2012/05/heritage-village-open-now.html

Carnival at the Pearl

Apparently there is a carnival going on at the Pearl until May 19.  We went and walked around but there wasn't much in the afternoon except this nice carousel and a puppet show for children later.  We must have been way too early.

It was a nice day for a stroll around the Pearl anyway!

Gheimeh Bademjan

N made another delicious traditional Iranian lunch.  So good!  This time she made Gheimeh Bademjan, which is Aubergine Stew. Inside the stew was chicken, tomato, split yellow peas, and of course eggplant.  Served with saffron rice of course!  Yumm!!!!
