Il Teatro at the Four Seasons Hotel

Supposedly the best restaurant in Qatar, it wasn't bad. The ambiance and service were impeccable and the food was normal Italian food. I didn't really like the veal ravioli (probably since I don't like veal), but I did like the simple tomato basil pasta. The wine was also good. :)

Y made Sapporo soup curry again!  So amazing to have my favorite Japanese meal right here in Doha!  I almost cried while eating it...

Marriott Doha Hotel Buffet

The buffet at the Marriott Doha Hotel is extravagant. There is food from all the restaurants in the hotel and of course it is all-you-can-eat.

Biscotti at the Grand Hyatt

I tried to have breakfast at Biscotti. This is not really a place for breakfast as most of their menu (including items that seem like they would be for breakfast) are not available until lunch, such as the quiche. The service was also disappointing as it was very slow as there was a huge gap between them bringing out the food and then the drinks coming long after. The only redeeming aspect is the atmosphere and presentation. The inside is very nice with relaxed tables and lots of options and it is also possible to sit outside near the pool.

I tried a small pastry with cooked cherry things which was decent and watermelon juice which was luckily for them fresh. Later (as is was a bit chilly sitting outside), I also ordered a hot chocolate which turned out much better than expected (at this point my expectations were pretty low so I was really surprised). The presentation of the hot chocolate was fantastic with a little tray holding two cups. One cup had the hot chocolate and the other had two chocolate cookie sticks, 3 marshmallow things, and a spoon dipped in chocolate! The chocolate spoon was great with the hot chocolate as well as the other additions. The hot chocolate itself was decent.

Overall, it was good enough, but not to the expectations as a place in the Grand Hyatt.

Caffe' Vergnano 1882

Caffe' Vergnano 1882 at the Pearl is nice to sit at and have a coffee or whatever.  However, the hot chocolate tasted more like pudding to me!  Not the way I like it...

Salad at Paul in Landmark Mall

I like Paul and I like the quality of the food, but the prices are just too high for what you get!

Qatar National Day

So many cars were decorated for the occasion.

The Emir is waving from the car!!!

Kids riding around the roof...

The fireworks were gorgeous, extravagant, and long.  Probably the best I've ever seen...

Sushi at the Sky View Bar in La Cigale Hotel

The sushi was decent but nothing special...

The Sky View Bar in La Cigale is really great though when it's not too cold!  There are beautiful views of the city.

Wanton Tacos at Applebee's...

Went to Applebee's for the first time in my life (had never been in the US...).

Yes, wanton tacos exist...   They were actually kinda good.

The drinks at Applebee's are fun and yummy.

Carluccio's at the Pearl

They gave us some bread samples at the beginning of the meal.  We got kinda full from them... oops.

I tried the ricotta-spinach ravioli, salad, and bruschetta.

The atmosphere is quite nice and it's one of the first restaurants open not in a hotel that serves alcohol...

Salsa at Doha Marriott Hotel

cheese, pico de gallo, & guacamole
salsas
Salsa is great if you are missing Tex-Mex. I tried the steak fajitas. The quality and cooking of the steak was decent (Chipotle has better steak) but what made it good was the seasoning. The steak came with onions and green, red, & yellow peppers. The meal came with soft flour tortillas, refried beans, Mexican rice, guacamole, and sour cream. I also requested cheese and pico de gallo (tomatoes & onion mix). Next time I will have to order about 10 times as much cheese as there was just about a pinch of shredded cheese on the plate--enough for 1/4 or 1/2 of a fajita taco. The amount of guacamole and pico de gallo was also insufficient but not as lacking as the cheese. The taste was good for the first 1/2 taco that I could make. The salsa (mango, normal red, and spicy green) that came with the chips in the beginning were also a good addition to the tacos. Overall, it was a good meal but the prices are way too high (135 QR) and they need to be much more generous with the portions of taco fillings. On a side note, I hear the ribs are really good.

Something that surprised me was that they had sangria. It wasn't listed on the menu but they have it by the glass or in pitchers, just like in Barcelona! The sangria was great and perfect with the meal. The pitcher was quite big as well!

Regarding the atmosphere, the live music was quite loud so it was really hard to have a conversation. It might be good if the music was a little quieter so people don't have to yell to be heard.
