Grape Leaves & Shawarma in Ruwais

It was so cool to see these guys making grape leaves!  I asked if I could take photos and they were cool with it.  The staff were very kind.

We also got shawarma from this place and it was one of the best I've had in Qatar!  What a nice surprise.  :)

Zubara Fort

Good to see Zubara Fort no longer under renovation!  Looks like there are some plans for the old Zubara Town nearby...

We visited just after it was announced that this traditional pearl fishing town became the first Qatari site to enter the UNESCO World Heritage List.  Exciting!

Le Vesuvio in Katara

After the performance we joined one of the performers for a quick bite at the new Italian restaurant in Katara, Le Vesuvio.  We got a pizza and the aubergine au parmesan.  The aubergine au parmesan was quite good and I'm not a huge fan of eggplant!

Bath & Body Works opens in Doha!!!!

When I read about this online, I just couldn't believe it....  So V and I went to check it out for ourselves in the new mall, Dar Al Salam.  I almost cried when I saw the shop!!!  Also I totally converted V into liking this place...  It really is soooo much better than Body Shop.

Now if only Bath & Body Works will bring back the HandiBac lotion.... :)

Magnolia Bakery in Dar Al Salam Mall

Also saw Magnolia Bakery in Dar Al Salam Mall!  This is my brother's favorite cupcake place but I still like Georgetown Cupcake better.  I think the cupcakes at Magnolia Bakery are just too sweet!

They do have some date cupcakes though...

Dinner at K108

Well the secret is out and now everyone knows how great K108 is!  The prices seem to be a bit higher as well but the food was still excellent.

Madfoun at Bandar Aden

Tried a new dish at Bandar Aden!  This is called madfoun.  It's a northern Yemeni dish from Hoddideh.  The meat is cooked under the coal.

Yum!

Changes at the Central Post Office

Lots of changes at the post office!  The huge parking garage was closed and the new parking was sort of in the back and outside near the construction.  It was cool to use this huge entrance for the first time.

The cost of sending postcards to the US also changed from 2QR to 2.50QR.  So many changes!

I liked these new stamps.  One from Morocco and the other about the UN Climate Change Conference last fall 2012.

Dinner at Oishi Sushi

Hisashiburi Oishi Sushi!  It has been such a long time.

We got my favorite, salmon & avocado, and also tried the soft shell crab maki.  The salmon & avocado was great but the soft shell crab was just ok... definitely it's better to get the soft shell crab maki at Market at the W!

After getting used to having spicy mayo with sushi all the time in the US, I requested some spicy mayo here, too.  It wasn't the normal spicy mayo made with Japanese mayo and sriracha, but it wasn't bad...  Seems it was made with mayo and spice powder.

Definitely satisfied my sushi craving!

Musheireb Project

Wow there has been so much progress on the Musheireb project!!  So exciting!
