Miss Saigon at Doha College

Went to see Miss Saigon playing at Doha College.

Miss Saigon is a West End musical by Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil, with lyrics by Boublil and Richard Maltby, Jr.. It is loosely based on Giacomo Puccini's opera Madame Butterfly, and similarly tells the tragic tale of a doomed romance involving an Asian woman abandoned by her American lover. The setting of the plot is relocated to the 1970s Saigon during the Vietnam War, and Madame Butterfly's American Lieutenant and Japanese geisha coupling is replaced by a romance between an American GI and a Vietnamese bar girl.

The performance was fantastic and everyone had great voices.  It was done very well for the amateur group who haven't done too many plays here yet I heard.

Assaha Lebanese Village

Entrance of Assaha Lebanese Village

Hummus Beiruti - regular hummus with parsley, herbs and garlic
Baba Ghannouj - grilled eggplant paste
Khuubs - bread

The Baba Ghannouj was really great with all of the vegetables and definitely tasted quite different from typical baba ghannouj.  The hummus was also really good and I liked the parsley in it and of course the bread was so warm and delicious!

Sheesh Tawook (front) - cubed, grilled chicken
Boneless chicken (back) - the other chicken dish with the larger pieces
Thoum paste (Thoum literally means garlic in Arabic) to go with the chicken

I liked both types of chicken and it was quite good with the garlic paste.

Muhallabia - rice pudding dessert

This dessert was also really yummy!

Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al-Thani Museum

The Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al-Thani Museum (http://www.fbqmuseum.com/) is incredible to say the least.

Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al-Thani was born in 1948, in Doha, Qatar, and considered to be one of the most successful businessmen in the region, and the biggest private antiques and arts collectors. He inherited the treasure stove of antiquities from his father Sheikh Qassim Bin Faisal Al-Thani.

He started collecting antiques since 1960, and during that time he traveled to many countries and world wide to find the most unique coin, books, manuscripts, ceramics, antique cars...etc and many other object related to different centuries and cultures.

His idea of a private museum was controversial for more than 20 years ago, and how the dream became true, and the museum becomes a destination for tourists and cultural and historical researchers.
The private collection is located in a building on his private farm at Sahaniya road, on a building that hosts more than 3000 pieces of high historical value.
