Gothloli Hats in Doha?!

As A invited us all to a hat party, after much deliberation I decided that I would go with a gothloli hat. Gothloli is a type of Japanese fashion which includes cute little hats with lace and bows. I was all set out to make one from scratch since how could I ever know where to find one of these in Qatar and I couldn't imagine them even existing here. So O and I headed over to the arts and crafts souq to one of my favorite shops that has all things arts and crafts and has even more stuff than Michael's. I was looking for materials for the hat and showing pictures to the store employees who then took me here:

I cannot even begin to explain how shocked I was.  Here were the Japanese gothloli hats, exactly what I was looking for, and for the meager price of 6 Qr each.  Seriously.  Photos for evidence.

Doha continues to surprise me daily.

Adventures at Doha Zoo

Quite an eventful afternoon at Doha Zoo!

Some monkeys threw fistfuls of dirt at us and we were completely covered in dirt and really surprised.

We got to fed this elephant carrots & apples which was fun.  He looked like he swallowed them whole!

There was also quite a bit of oryx out and about including some babies.

These monkeys were also really cute and had glass between them and us... luckily.

Belgian Cafe

We had girls night at the Belgian Cafe this time.  I tried the beef stew which was okay but needed more sauce and vegetables as the beef was a little bit too much (yes, I know it is beef stew...).  The Belgian waffle was amazing as always though.

Flat Tire

I got my first flat tire in Doha.  We were totally lost with what to do but luckily a kind Qatari man stopped to help us.  We were having trouble getting the crank under so what he did was put a rock under the tire to raise it more.  He had the tire off and the new one on only moments after!  He was so kind!

Hedgehogs in September

The nights are getting cooler and it seems like the hedgehogs are more willing to come out of the hedges.  We caught so many one night that we had to keep them in a box.

Somehow they can all snuggle up together and the spikes don't bother them?

Sana'a Yemeni Restaurant

It looks like Bandar Aden but this is actually at Sana'a, the other Yemeni restaurant in Qatar and also in Souq Waqif.  It was also delicious!  Yememi food is definitely one of my favorites.
