Another dinner at Oishi Sushi! Last time we saw the teppanyaki and O thought it was amazing as he had never seen teppanyaki before... I still remember every birthday at Benihana when I was 13...ha... So anyway, this time we tried it and it was fantastic! Wow! The chicken and fried rice were the best. Really, really good!

Dubai: Jallab and Moroccan tea at the Courtyard of Al Manzil Hotel
Dubai: Social House Restaurant
I'm still looking for a favorite restaurant in Dubai but Social House was pretty good. N took us here as it's one of the decent places she's found since moving to Dubai. The location is great in the downtown Dubai area with views of the light show. The food was good with lots of selections. The Asian style US short ribs were actually really good!

The views were amazing from up here and we could see the petal design around the stadium. The food was good but a little on the expensive side. It's definitely best to come here for the atmosphere!

Gourmet Shawarma at Al Bandar in Souq Waqif
![]() |
| chicken shawarma |
So I've eaten at Al Bandar many times but never been super impressed with the food. It's so popular with everyone that I somehow keep ending up here! So I was talking with H about it and she told me about their chicken shawarma dish. I feel like shawarma is not something to usually order at such a fancy restaurant but she said it was amazing. I ordered it. It is AMAZING. It's only 25QR, much cheaper than most items on the menu, and it's incredible. Sure I've had incredible shawarma from shawarma shops but this one is really different and a sort of "gourmet shawarma." I totally recommend trying it and it's great to share with everyone as an appetizer! Now I know that I'll be going all the time to Al Bandar for this chicken shawarma...!

Le Vesuvio in Katara
After the performance we joined one of the performers for a quick bite at the new Italian restaurant in Katara, Le Vesuvio. We got a pizza and the aubergine au parmesan. The aubergine au parmesan was quite good and I'm not a huge fan of eggplant!

Dinner at Oishi Sushi
Hisashiburi Oishi Sushi! It has been such a long time.
We got my favorite, salmon & avocado, and also tried the soft shell crab maki. The salmon & avocado was great but the soft shell crab was just ok... definitely it's better to get the soft shell crab maki at Market at the W!
After getting used to having spicy mayo with sushi all the time in the US, I requested some spicy mayo here, too. It wasn't the normal spicy mayo made with Japanese mayo and sriracha, but it wasn't bad... Seems it was made with mayo and spice powder.
Definitely satisfied my sushi craving!

Medi at the Village on Salwa Road
M and I went to Medi at the Village on Salwa Road, which M had tried previously and really liked. It was good food and quantity for a decent price. The caesar salad was massive and we only got through about half of the the paella for 2! They also a bread bowl with many condiments!
