Souq Waqif Art Center

The art center in Souq Waqif opened!  It's incredible inside and the above photo definitely does not capture the awesomeness...  I'm looking forward to seeing more exhibitions here.

Dubai: Alserkal Avenue

Alserkal Avenue is a cool place in the industrial area of Dubai where there are a lot art galleries all bunched together.  I stopped in this gallery and hope to see the other galleries in the area next time.

The before and after photographs are really shocking but they show the strength of the Japanese to pick themselves up and work hard to build it all back.

Japanese children rise from the adversity in their unique way. Under the themes of "Thanks everyone in the world," "My life in 10 years," and "What I want to do," drawings by the children in the disaster-stricken areas of:

More Spring Festival at Souq Waqif

The spring festival was still happening at the souq when I walked over this day.

These two were really amazing.

"Louise Bourgeois: Conscious and Unconscious" at Katara

The exhibition title Conscious and Unconscious refers to the psychological implications of Bourgeois’s art, which gave her insight into her actions, motivations, and emotions. It also encapsulates the dynamic of Bourgeois’s creative process, as she oscillated between making rational decisions and blindly following her intuition to arrive at a form that expressed her deep unconscious. According to Bourgeois, the artist enjoys the privilege of access to the unconscious. She also believed that art offered her a way to exorcise anxiety and the powerful fear of abandonment that plagued her since childhood. Although she underwent analysis for many years, she felt that art was her true form of psychoanalysis and a guarantee of sanity.
