Tried a new dish at Bandar Aden!  This is the lamb version of madfoun.  It's a northern Yemeni dish from Hoddideh.  The meat is cooked under the coal.

R and I went to Bandar Aden for iftar.  They brought us tons of stuff including dates, orange juice, samosa, and lamb soup.  Yum!

After they also brought us some Arabic coffee.

Yemeni Breakfast

Yup, more breakfast, but this time at my favorite spot, Bandar Aden.  We got shakshouka, beans, and MEAN, which was like the steak meat from Chipotle and it was really good!!!  We ate all of this with their bread of course while sipping tea.

Shakshouka (شكشوكة‎‎) is a dish of eggs poached in a sauce of tomatoes, chili peppers, onions, often spiced with cumin.

Yemeni desserts: maasob and arika

These are traditional Yemeni desserts.  The first one is arika (bread, dates, honey, cheese, and cream) and the second is maasob (banana, bread, honey, cheese, dates, and cream).  They are both incredible delicious but so heavy and I can only manage a few bites especially after the heavy meal!

After dinner at Bandar Aden, we went to get some gelato at La Dolce Vita.  The last time I was there the owner (an Italian) had asked me what my favorite flavor was and I saw he didn't have it and it was orange.  This time when we went, it was here!!!!!!  I was so excited.

Private Room at Bandar Aden

Today we tried sitting in traditional Arabic style on the floor at Bandar Aden.  They have rooms for this which are private.  It was fun but my feet fell asleep!  Of course the food was great as always.

Spicy Chicken Ogda

Had a farewell for one of my good friends leaving Qatar at Bandar Aden Yemeni restaurant.  We got the usual, but today they made the chicken ogda really spicy.  I think there were jalapeno peppers in it or something!  Still really good but our mouths were burning!

Went to Bandar Aden Yemeni Restaurant yet again!  They brought us a new dish this time, lamb with thin, long potato slices.  Everything was so good as always!

Dinner at Bandar Aden again in the souq.  Great as always and they got new menus! We tried a new dish, recommended by the waiter, called Fahsa.

Fahsa is a Yemeni stew. It is a stew made of lamb cutlets with lamb soup, spices and "holba," fenugreek, after it’s cooked.

This is quickly becoming my favorite restaurant in Doha.  Good food and good prices.  However, they didn't make the chicken ogda like they did last time...  where is the tomato!?
